About Us

 Galveston Island Tennis (GIT), is a coalition of local coed tennis players who have come together to promote tennis on Galveston Island.   We do not collect dues, we do not require a membership and you do not have to be a USTA member.   Simply said, we love tennis and we want to continue growing our list of enthusiasts interested in coming out and enjoying our regularly scheduled doubles matches and have a good time--again, we are coed! We operate from an email list that we have compiled of interested players.   Please select the "Sign Up to Play" Link and select one of our regularly scheduled doubles matches: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00pm, Saturdays at 9:30am.  If you have a friend in town who also plays tennis, tell us on the email that you have a +1 or +2 and their names and we will add them to the roster for that play day.

Our list of players ranges in ages from 20’s to 70’s and our tennis players are mostly 3.5 to 4.0 tennis players.  On a good or lucky day some of us inadvertently play 4.5 for a moment or two!  We have Galveston Island residents as well as occasional tennis players who come down on the weekends only, as well as seasonal snowbirds who play while they enjoy the mild winters of Galveston Island. Our tri-weekly scheduled matches are primarily doubles, however, if you wish to play singles, we are sure you will find one among us who enjoys the battle of singles play.
